Backyard Makeover

Most of the people only pay attention to the interior and the front of the house when it comes to decorating, but your backyard deserves the same kind of attention. A well-designed and properly maintained backyard will liven up your entire home and it can easily become the favorite spot of your house for hanging out. Use these tips and tricks to turn your neglected backyard into your personal retreat for sunny days.

DIY planters

A splash of colour is sometimes all your backyard needs and what could be a better way to introduce colour to any space than some flowers. You can get some attractive planters in stores or you can DIY some amazing planters right in your backyard. Let your imagination fly on this one. You can make planters out of old wheelbarrows, rocking chairs, plastic bottles, stumps or even old bicycles, and these are just some of the ideas.

Add a fire pit

They are a great decorative detail you can add to your backyard, plus they are more than useful. You can roast some marshmallows long into the summer nights, or host a barbeque party and prepare some delicious meals. They also make a great rustic element you can introduce to your garden and they usually look stylish and sophisticated. There are ready-made fire pits, but they can get a little costly, so you can turn it into a nice DIY project for the summer.

Hammocks for lazy days

There is nothing better than reading a book in the fresh air or just soaking up the sun in your backyard. Make this amazing experience even better and install some hammocks for ultimate relaxation sessions. They are not only easy to make and put up, but also there are countless variations when it comes to its size, style and material. They are so comfortable that you will want to install one in your bedroom too.

Make a deck

If you think that this is the missing link to your backyard, then it’s time you rolled up your sleeves and got to work. This is a great group project you can do with your family and friends and it will certainly transform your backyard completely. You can even make a deck out of wood pallets! Give the old pallets a little makeover by cleaning, sanding and painting them, then lay them on your desired area. Decorate it in whichever way and style you wish. This will turn your backyard into a get-together center of the house, and you will want to have every meal outside on your new deck.

Lay down some pavers

With different pavers, you can achieve a complete makeover for your backyard. You can make various designs with accent stones, use different sizes and textures, and create pathways or borders around the yard. You can use sustainable grass pavers for a more natural look, with grass and flowers growing between them.  Use your imagination and it will really transform your backyard in no time.

Make a pond or a fountain

This is one of the most eye-catching details any backyard can have. Nothing can make your yard look and feel more natural and relaxing than a pond or a fountain. Durable and low maintenance, backyard ponds also come in countless variations. If you’re planning on selling your house, they will add to the value of your property and make it more appealing and beautiful for potential buyers. You can call an expert and get it made, or you can try doing it yourself. It’s not as complicated as it may seem. Once you’re done, you can add some fish and plants in it for a more authentic and enjoyable appearance.

Your backyard just needs some attention and you will restore it to its previous glory days in no time. The most important thing is that you can do all this on a budget.
