We could all hardly wait for spring to come; winter may have its perks, but there is only so much cold a person can take. Spring is the time when Mother Nature finally wakes up and before you know it, there will be lovely blossoms and the smell of freshly mowed grass everywhere. If you’re looking for a way to bring this lovely air of spring into your home, we give you five easy décor ideas you can use.
Brighten up the walls
While it is true that by keeping your walls plain white you will make the room appear bigger and brighter, white can be such a sterile colour. If painting all the walls in your home isn’t really an option, you can pick a single wall in a room and paint it different than the rest. Paint the wall behind your bed a light shade of lavender, place a world map on your child’s bedroom wall, or make a geometric accent wall in your living room. This is a great way to accent a certain architectural feature or to break up a large room.
Add more colour
You don’t necessarily have to paint the walls if you want to add more colour to your home – by adding glittery accent pillows or lovely modern floor rugs, you will brighten up the space significantly. Replace your old covers with ones made of natural materials like cotton or bamboo, buy a couple of rattan storage boxes, and hang paintings and photos in wooden frames on the walls. This way you will feel like you’ve brought nature in.
Fresh and green
Speaking of bringing nature in, why not take a step further and introduce fresh greenery into your home? Place pots with English ivy, aloe vera, and rubber tree in your living room and you will soon notice that the air is purified, and that you feel calmer than before. Bring small pots with herbs into your kitchen so you can always use fresh ones when you’re cooking, and keep bamboo and some fern in your bathroom – they will thrive from all the humidity and warm air.
